Are You Ready?

  1. Do you know what you want to do for a career? If yes, what are you doing now to plan for that career?

  2. If you are planning to go to college, what top 3 factors will influence your decision on which school you attend? Is what you will major in 1 of those factors?

  3. Do you know what your interests are and how those interests match a “real job” you could enjoy?

  4. Have friends or family ever told you were good at something? Do you know how to further explore if you enjoy what people think you are good at?

  5. Are you taking elective classes or participating in extra curricular activities in or outside of high school to explore your areas of interest? Can those activities be tied to work related skills?

  6. If you are planning to go to college, have you selected a major? If yes, how does that major match your interests, abilities, and personality?

  7. Are you planning to go to college? If yes, do you know if that college offers the course of study (major) that matches your interests? If no, what career areas match your interests that do not require a college degree?

  8. Do you know 3 specific career areas that you can pursue in the college major you have selected?

  9. If you have a career you are interested in, have you interviewed actual people working in that career field? If yes, how does the daily work of that job compare to your inherent values?

  10. When and how do you think you need to gain “real job” experience in the career areas you are interested in?

  • How long do you want your parents to pay for your living expenses after you graduate from high school or college?
